    Join your i-Ready Partners to learn about the latest research on student learning and dive into your data following your first Diagnostic.     Creative Coding: An Introduction for Arts Educators

    This three-hour course introduces educators to the fundamentals of creative coding, offering a hands-on exploration of essential computer science principles. Designed as a foundation for teaching coding in a creative and culturally responsive way, the course encourages educators to expand their approach to New York State Computer Science and Digital Fluency standards. The course provides examples of activities and unit projects that integrate Culturally Responsive Best Practices, allowing students to connect their coding experiences to their own cultures and communities. Drawing from CS4All's Intro to Computational Media, this course includes discussions on fostering academic integrity in coding, effectively managing student work, and contextualizing computer science as a tool for artmaking.

    Coding for Cowards: An Experience for the Interested Novice

    This session is geared specifically for K-8 faculty who may not have a formal programming or computer science background but are open to exploring how the thinking involved in coding can help enhance thinking across all disciplines. By the end of this course, you will: -understand the importance of K-12 students being exposed to CS concepts/ computational thinking; -become comfortable with popular coding platforms and key coding terminology and concepts; -successfully complete increasingly challenging coding exercises using a variety of free and popular online coding platforms.

    The sessions in this series of hybrid professional learning experiences will focus on the following AI Outcomes:
    - Develop a clear understanding of artificial intelligence and its impact on workforce trends.
    - Define the skills and strategies students will need in an AI-prevalent world.
    - Explore how AI can supplement and enhance teaching and learning experiences.
    - Consider potential risks related to privacy, ethics, and bias.
    - Determine principles shaping district-level guidance, helping to inform policy-making updates and/or creation.

    Creating Transformational Learning Experiences

    What is our vision for the future of education? Evolving learning models and access to emerging technologies create new opportunities to expand how students learn and how teachers instruct. As we adapt and advance into the next phase of education, we are more widely exploring the learning experiences, skills, and attributes we want for our students while thoughtfully and ethically leveraging the technology landscape. Through ASCD+ISTE's partnership, the Transformational Learning Principles have been created, highlighting the most essential elements of effective learning.

    Join us for a conversation focused on transformational learning and the ways in which we can use Transformational Learning Principles to create impactful and joyful learning experiences.

    Dr. Richard Culatta, CEO ASCD+ISTE
    As the CEO of ASCD+ISTE, Richard Culatta is focused on creating the next generation of innovative learning leaders. Richard has also served as the Chief Innovation Officer of the state of Rhode Island and was appointed by President Barack Obama to lead the US Department of Education's Office of Educational Technology. His book, Digital for Good: Raising Kids to Thrive in an Online World (Harvard Business Publishing) aims to help create conditions for healthy tech use at home and school.

    Embracing AI in Your District: Reunion Cohort

    A follow up opportunity for districts who participated in the "Embracing AI" workgroup from 2023-2024. Districts have been developing guidelines, facilitating professional learning, and engaging students in learning experiences. Participants will have an opportunity to share lessons learned as well as engage in new learning as AI continues to evolve. Following the in-person session in the fall of 2024, participants will engage in three 90-minute virtual sessions to continue their collaboration and learning together.
    Cost Per District Team: $ 1250.00 (please note: no limit on the number of participants each district may bring)
